First Responder Memorial

Thank you for your interest and help in the memorial to first responders with PTSD. I have raised enough funds to complete this project. If you are still interested in helping this cause, groups such as Blue Help and The Heroes Operation are great organizations and have helped me quite a bit on my project.

PERSONAL MEMORIAL BRICKS

This small 1.5"x3" brick will be mailed to your home.  It can be a replica of a brick installed at the memorial or a separate brick just for you.  This is an opportunity to have a piece of the memorial at your home or just have a simple remembrance of your loved one.  These bricks are $25 and are limited to 3 lines of text with 13 characters per line.

MEMORIAL PATCH (LIMITED NUMBER MADE)

As part of the fundraising for this event, a PTSD Memorial patch was created.  The patch was designed with the suicide awareness ribbon colors and represents all first responders.  The silhouette of the person helping another emphasizes our philosophy that no one fights alone as we all are family and are there for each other.  Patch size is approximately 4" by 5".

We will also have a limited number of stickers available.  These are approximately 3.25" and are suitable for vehicle windows.

Patches are $10 each and stickers are $3 each.  All money raised will go towards the construction and upkeep of the memorial.

HELP US HONOR OUR FIRST RESPONDERS

My name is Mitchell Parker. I am a Boy Scout out of Troop 62 from Painesville, Ohio. I am currently working on my Eagle Scout Project and am humbly seeking monetary and material donations.

My project is a memorial to first responders with PTSD. The memorial will consist of a brick walkway to a brick circle with a blue gravel center and a granite memorial stone in the middle. I’ve grown up around first responders and I’ve seen many of them suffer from PTSD. Often when first responders lose a battle with PTSD, they are not recognized for their life of service. They did the same job and still touched and saved many lives in the process. With this project, I hope to bring light to the work our first responders have done, provide a place to remember those we have lost, and help reduce the stigma of PTSD.

This memorial will be located at 28 Mentor Avenue in Painesville, Ohio, near the police and fire departments. While local to Painesville, this is intended to recognize first responders throughout the country. I am only aware of one other location in the United States that has a memorial for first responders who have battle with PTSD, and that one is solely focused on police officers. My hope is that this project will be able to represent first responders nationally and give their families a permanent memorial.

I am currently trying to fund the following:

• Electrical and lighting to illuminate the flag

• Flag pole and flag

• Granite memorial

• Sand

• Concrete

• Gravel

• Rental of an excavator and a plate compactor

• Patches to sell (like the one illustrated above)

The estimated cost for the project is $7,000. Any monetary donations will go towards the construction of the memorial.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Mitchell Parker
