ABOUT

My name is Mitchell Parker. I am a Boy Scout out of Troop 62 from Painesville, Ohio. I am currently working on my Eagle Scout Project and am humbly seeking monetary and material donations.

My project is a memorial to first responders with PTSD. The memorial will consist of a brick walkway to a brick circle with a blue gravel center and a granite memorial stone in the middle.  I’ve grown up around first responders and I’ve seen many of them suffer from PTSD. Often when first responders lose a battle with PTSD, they are not recognized for their life of service. They did the same job and still touched and saved many lives in the process. With this project, I hope to bring light to the work our first responders have done, provide a place to remember those we have lost, and help reduce the stigma of PTSD.

This memorial will be located at 28 Mentor Avenue in Painesville, Ohio, near the police and fire departments. While local to Painesville, I am only aware of one other location in the United States that has a memorial for first responders who have battle with PTSD, and that one is solely focused on police officers. My hope is that this project will be able to represent first responders nationally and give their families a permanent memorial.
